Invest In Kansas City
Nearly every one of the more than 3,500 funds at the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation supports the charitable causes that are important to the individual, family or business that established it. A few donors, however, have trusted the Community Foundation to invest the income from their unrestricted funds to support the priorities most critical to the lives of people in Kansas City.
The Community Foundation's board of directors takes its leadership responsibility seriously. It bases its investment decisions on objective research. Several years ago, the Community Foundation, together with other funders and community partners, invited an outside team of writers to conduct hundreds of interviews across the Kansas City region. The writers identified broad areas of opportunity in the “Citistates Report.” A few years later, the Community Foundation convened a Blue Ribbon Task Force comprised of top experts in higher education: Dr. Benno C. Schmidt, Jr., Dr. James J. Duderstadt, Dr. Farris W. Womack, The Honorable Kirt Schmoke, Sara Martinez Tucker, and Dr. Richard C. Atkinson.
The task force published its work in Time to Get It Right: A Strategy for Higher Education, Time to Get Things Done: One Year Later and Time to Get It Right : Staying Competitive in the New Economy creating the community's blueprint for investing in Kansas City. Accordingly, the Community Foundation focuses all unrestricted grant making to support access to high quality education for all children, especially those in the urban core, and to support the fundamentals of Kansas City's future economy.
There are several exciting opportunities for investing in Kansas City in our pursuit of our “Time to Get It Right” priorities. To learn how you can get involved, contact us at email@example.com. If you would like to donate online, click here to give. Every gift makes a difference!
