BACCHUS FOUNDATION
2010 GRANTMAKING GUIDELINES*
Overview
Each year the Bacchus Foundation selects a local organization from a host of applicants. The Board of Directors determines a focus for each year's grant. The 2010 emphasis is arts and culture. In 2011 the focus will be education and in 2012 the focus will be social services. Applicants will not be limited by the nature of their organization and are welcome to develop a proposal that compliments the selected emphasis area. Click here to find more information about the Bacchus Foundation and past grantees of the Foundation.
Grant Range
Grant amounts have varied over the years and although there is never a guarantee of a specific level of funding, the typical grants have been in the range of $20,000 to $30,000, depending on the success of our annual fundraising efforts. Please note that the funds may be used for general operating expenses, a special project or continuing project, as long as the focus and intent will be that of the purpose expressed in the grant.
Selection Process
The Bacchus Beneficiary Selection Committee will meet in mid-April annually to review all applications and recommend three (3) proposals to be reviewed by the Board of Directors. Members of the Board will schedule times to visit each of the three finalists on-site as well as provide an opportunity for the finalists to present to the Bacchus Board of Directors at the May Board meeting in the evening.
From these on-site reports, presentations and reviewing the grant proposals, the Board will select one organization as the beneficiary for the Year 2011 grant. The recipient of the grant will be notified in late May 2010.
Funds raised during the Foundation's June 1, 2010 to May 30, 2011 fundraising year will be awarded to the recipient organization during the summer of 2011.
