2012 Guidelines
Overview: 

Mr. and Mrs. Loose had a simple and direct charge to successor board members of the Foundation: To help the poor and needy children and families of Jackson County and/or Kansas City, Missouri.

Mandatory Loose Grant Information Session are Monday, March 12, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. and Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.

Grant Restrictions and Requirements: 
  • Grant applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations.
  • Applicants must attend a Loose Foundation grant information session to be eligible to apply Mandatory Loose Grant Information Session are Monday March 12, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. and Tuesday March 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.
  • Applicants must demonstrate that the majority of the program clients/beneficiaries are residents of Jackson County and/or Kansas City, Missouri.
  • The applicant must have a REVIEWED nonprofit profile.
  • The Loose Foundation does not fund any component of a capital campaign, endowment campaign or annual fund drive.
  • The Loose Foundation will not award grants for debt reduction.
  • No grants will be made to individuals, including scholarships.

Geography

The geographical focus of the Loose Foundation is limited to Jackson County and/or Kansas City, Missouri. Specifically, organizations must clearly demonstrate that the majority of the program clients/beneficiaries are residents of Jackson County and/or Kansas City, Missouri.

Eligibility

In keeping with the intent of Mr. and Mrs. Loose, the Loose Foundation’s focus will be funding programs that support the direct delivery of human or social service to poor and needy children and families. Programs that provide services other than human or social services are not eligible for funding and will not be considered.

Grant Range: 

One year grants ranging from $5,000 to $75,000.

Important Dates: 

Applications are reviewed on an annual basis by the grants committee, who make recommendations to the full board of the Loose Foundation for final approval. The Greater Kansas City Community Foundation is available to assist organizations by providing feedback on grant applications prior to their submission. The Loose Foundation strongly encourages applicants to request feedback on grant applications prior to their submission. Applicants who are interested should contact Stephanie Mack at 816-627-3422 to schedule a feedback call with Community Foundation staff. Feedback calls should be requested at least two weeks prior to the application deadline.

Procedures for Grant Seekers: 
  1. Applicants must have a REVIEWED nonprofit profile. Contact the Donor Relations and Education Team at 816-842-0388 or nonprofitsearch@gkccf.org with any questions.

  2. Register and attend a mandatory Loose Foundation grant information session. Grant Sessions will be held on March 12th at 10:00 a.m. and March 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. 
  3. All applications must be submitted online by 5:00 p.m. CST on the due date through the internet grant application module (iGAM).
  4. The iGAM grant application will be made available 6 to 8 weeks prior to the deadline.

 

iGAM Instructions: 
  1. When the iGAM application is made available (4 to 8 weeks prior to deadline) the link will be posted here.
  2. When the iGAM grant application is made available you will be prompted to create a username and password, unless previously done so.
  3. Users are encouraged to create a single username and password for your organization to be shared among staff.
  4. Save the iGAM My Account to your web browser favorites to access draft and submitted applications
    A compatible web browser must be used, either Internet Explorer version 6 or higher or Fire Fox version 1.5 or higher and have cookies enabled.
    Once logged in, users can view pending and historical applications, but not applications saved under other usernames.If you have technical questions regarding iGAM, please contact the Donor Relations and Education Team at 816-627-3422 or grants@gkccf.org
