Fry Pathmaker Scholars Fund
- The Fry Pathmaker Scholars Fund was launched in 1997 by the Robert and Mary Fry Family with the intention of looking beyond past behaviors or a student’s current academic performance. Through that same lens, today, the scholarship offers selected tenth grade students participating in AVID the opportunity of a college scholarship.
Eligibility:
· Must maintain all criteria associated with participation in AVID
· Must maintain less than 10 absences per academic year
· Must have no out of school suspension or expulsions
· Must have no misdemeanor or felony convictions
· Must graduate from an Olathe USD #233 public high school or other high school as an AVID scholar.
· Must demonstrate financial need
· Must maintain U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency Status
- Beginning in the tenth grade, selected students will be able to accrue up to $4,000.00 toward college tuition, fees, books and other required course-related expenses at Johnson County Community College or Mid America Nazarene University provided they have met the annual requirements of their participation as a Fry Pathmaker Scholar.
- Fry Pathmaker Scholars are required to attend Johnson County Community College or Mid America Nazarene University, because of the commitment these institutions have made to on-going mentoring and support. However, the Fry PathmakerScholar may petition the Fry Pathmakers Board for an exception to this requirement if a compelling situation exists.
